TV advertising.

S.C. Johnson has been advertising various Glade scented products. Candles. Sprays. Plug ins. The ads all feature a Sean Young-ish woman trying to fool friends/family into thinking she's baked/cleaned/purchased some expensive imported product. She gets caught, is embarrassed and the commercial ends.

It's a dumb, annoying ad campaign, and I was perfectly willing to ban the products from my home on this basis.

Then the new holiday ad started running. Same actress. This time she lights a gingerbread-scented candle, and sets out a plate of gingerbread men as her pals arrive. Again, claims the scent is her baking. Then one of the gingerbread men stands up, points out the candle, and she bites his head off. As she's chewing you can hear the voice dying out. She flashes a closed-mouth, "What? I didn't do anything," smile.

Suddenly the ad campaign has taken a hard left into creepy-land.

At the end of the commercial she offers a plate of cookies, all now with heads bitten off, to her friends who shrink back in thinly-disguised horror. I can picture the chorus of voices screaming at the sudden, violent feeding frenzy as she crams one muffled head after another into her mouth.

Thank you, S.C. Johnson.

lol! i haven't seen that one, but, yeah, i hate those commercials, too.
why would anyone try to impress people with having folks think they paid a lot of money for a freakin candle. but then again, i'm one of those idiots that think it's a good idea to tell people how LITTLE i paid for something [it's sick, really, how ocd i am about it]:

"hey, cute shoes!"
"yeah? i got them for $3.50!"
"erm ... oooookay?"

:P
